Cardiff's Michael Chopra, a target of alleged racial abuse

Submitted by admin on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 02:53

London, Oct.19 (ANI): Cardiff striker Michael Chopra was the target of alleged racial abuse at the end of a bad-tempered clash with a Crystal Palace player.

Chopra, 25, who is of Indian descent, tried to confront a Crystal Palace player after the final whistle and had to be pulled away by security staff and Cardiff's kit man, reports the Daily Express.

Four days earlier Chopra was on his best behaviour when he met the Queen at Buckingham

Former Sunderland player Chopra was spoiling for a fight at the Cardiff City Stadium after a racist slur was allegedly hurled his way.

Fellow Cardiff forward Jay Bothroyd said: "I spoke to Chops and he said one of their players said a racist comment to him at the end of the game.

"That's not acceptable. That's why he was so angry at the end. He wasn't happy," he added. (ANI)
