New Delhi, Jul 30 (ANI): Sharing China's experiences of tackling corruption during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a top Chinese Government official had a word of advice for the organizers of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games who are facing heat over rampant charges of corruption and incompetence.

The Deputy Secretary General of Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party, Liu Mingbo said: "In our experience first of all you should set up a very effective supervising organization and secondly you have to put into place a very effective monitoring system to chase the flow of funding, operations of the project and also marketing.

"Thirdly, you need to identify the priorities of what is to be supervised for instance the flow of funding, operations of the construction project or marketing."

The CPC or Central Commission for Discipline Inspection is a permanent body constituted by the Communist party of China which oversees the anti corruption work in the country.

Beijing was awarded the Olympic Games on July 13, 2001, having won an absolute majority of votes from members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after two rounds of voting.

The Government China promoted the Games and invested heavily in new facilities and transportation systems. A total of 37 venues were used to host the events including 12 constructed for use at the Games. An estimated 40 billion dollars were spent on the Beijing Olympics.

"China immediately after winning the bidding set up a special supervision committee and chairman of this special supervision committee was actually the vice party secretary of central discipline inspection commission and this body traced the flow of funding, supervising the operation of all construction project and monitored operation from start to end," Liu told reporters in New Delhi.

Liu along with a delegation of members of China Centre for Contemporary World Studies is on a tour of India.

India is hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which will commence on October 3, and see the participation of 71 nations. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)
