Delhi CM briefs PM on Commonwealth Games projects
New Delhi, Oct 6 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday met the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and briefed him about the status of infrastructure projects being implemented ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The meeting was attended by Union Sports Minister M S Gill at the Prime Minister residence.
According to sources, Dikshit briefed Dr. Singh about the status of the Games related projects and where it stands now.
The Dikshit Government has been criticised for delay in the construction of infrastructure projects.
Earlier, Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) president Mike Fennell had requested an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the slow pace of work.
But Union Sports Minister Manohar Singh Gill had then expressed confidence that the venues would be ready after a visit to the stadiums.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be India’s first major international sports event after the 1982 Asian Games. New Delhi hosted the inaugural Asian Games in 1951 and again in 1982. (ANI)
