Clouded leopards undergo night acclimatization in Assam

Kokrajhar (Assam), Mar 19 (ANI): Moving to the next phase in the ongoing rehabilitation of the two clouded leopards in Greater Manas, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) has now initiated their night acclimatization.

Clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) is among the least studied felids,(members of cat family) due to their nocturnal and far-ranging behaviour.

Centre approves water supply project for Jaisalmer and Barmer military stations

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): The Union Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal relating to provision of long term water supply scheme for Army and Air Force stations in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts.

The Rajasthan Government's Public Engineering Department is implementing the Barmer Lift Water Supply Project to supply drinking water to Jaisalmer and Barmer districts.

Sydney, Mar 19(ANI): Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice booked a place at the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi when she hit top form by upsetting former world champion Jess Schipper in the 100m at the selection trials in Sydney.

Rice (57.71secs) claimed her first national 100m butterfly title, mowing down Felicity Galvez (58.20) and Schipper (58.41) on the last lap of the final at Sydney Olympic Park.

CBI chief for friendly association with foreign investigating officers

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Ashwani Kumar on Friday said that association of teams of investigating and law officers from the requesting countries should be encouraged.

Addressing the Conference of Police Liaison Officers (PLO) of Foreign Countries, Kumar said: "We should encourage association of teams of investigating and Law Officers from the requesting countries while execution of such requests by the requested countries."

Cabinet gives nod to set up six AIIMS-like institutions

New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the revised cost estimates (RCE) for setting up of six new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) like institutions in different parts of the country.

The cabinet approved cost estimates also includes upgradation of 13 existing Government Medical Colleges under The Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) -Phase I for an outlay of Rs.9307.62 crore.

Brit taxpayers’ paid 273,000 pounds for protecting Blair for a day

London, Mar 19(ANI): The British taxpayers' bill after former Prime Minister Tony Blair gave evidence at the Iraq inquiry for a single day on January 29 was 273,000 pounds.

The costs uncovered by questions under Freedom of Information Act disclosed that the total wage bill for police switched from other duties to guard Blair was 178,000 pounds.

Crash prompts Pak to return ‘free’ Mi-17 choppers to US

Washington, Mar.19 (ANI): Pakistan has reportedly decided to return four Russian-built Mi-17 helicopters, which were given to it for free by the United States less than a year ago.

According to a Pentagon spokesperson, Islamabad has decided against keeping the helicopters, which were used extensively against extremists in the tribal regions, after one of them crashed in February killing at least one person on board.

Brittain notched up his aces on both the 12th and 17th holes, described by officials at the 600-member club as "very, very unusual".
