Goods worth millions gutted in Kanpur factory fire
Kanpur, Sep 6 (ANI): A major fire broke out in a chemical factory in Kanpur, causing damage worth millions of rupees.
Fire officials suspect the fire could have been triggered by a short circuit when electricity supply returned after a breakdown.
Chief Fire Officer D P Shukla said the factory housed highly inflammable chemicals and plastics that caused the fire to spread to massive proportions.
“The fire started due to unknown reasons and spread all over the godown. As soon as we got information of the fire, we arrived here and stopped it from spreading to nearby shops and homes,” said Shukla.
Eyewitnesses said the factory was closed today for unknown reasons.
It took four fire engines more than two hours to control the blaze. The police are investigating the cause behind the fire.
There were no human casualties. (ANI)
