Gujarat police seize fake Afghan currency notes

Jamnagar, Dec 20 (ANI): Gujarat Police on Sunday seized fake Afghan currency notes worth six million and arrested five persons, including two college students from a hideout in Jamnagar.

Acting on a tip off the sleuths of Gujarat Police raided a house and recovered the amount.

"Five persons have been arrested. Two of them belong to Jamnagar and the rest them belong to Rajkot. Fake Afghan currency notes, each note in the denomination of 10,000 Afghani, have been seized and the total worth is six million," said Sadar Singh Jala, Inspector of Police, Jamnagar.

Several cases of fake currency, being smuggled into India have been reported form several parts of the country.

Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police had arrested a key operative of a fake currency racket and seized counterfeit notes from him.

Fake currencies find their way into India through its borders with Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. (ANI)
