Haryana Governor’s guards held for alleged rape
Chandigarh, Feb. 21 (ANI): A 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two Haryana Armed Police personnel and a civilian near Governor A R Kidwai’s official residence here this morning.
Commando Vijendra, attached to the Governor’s security, constable Dinesh and one of his relatives were arrested on charges of raping the woman, SHO Ram Gopal, in whose jurisdiction the alleged crime took place, said.
The woman, who was employed with a caterer, was returning home in an auto-rickshaw when the alleged rape took place close to the official residence of the Haryana Governor in the high-security Sector-3 locality.
In her complaint to the police, the woman charged the two policemen with stopping her auto, thrashing its driver and dragging her to their quarter nearby and raping her.
The woman has been medically examined and a report is awaited, police said.
Legal action will be taken after a thorough probe. (ANI)
