Agra, Oct.19 (ANI): One of the main objectives of the Indo-US joint Air Force exercise, Ex-Cope India 2009, is working towards humanitarian assistance in case of a natural disaster.

Addressing a joint press conference with Group Captain Mathews Mammen, the director of the exercise representing the Indian Air Force (IAF), Colonel Raymond Le Marche of the US Air Force said this exercise would help the two forces work together to serve the people and also help in building new relationship between both nations.

"Working together, as we will this week, would provide us an opportunity for co-operation, for building partnership, for building friendship to enable us to operate quickly with cold mind," Colonel Marche said.

" We are looking forward to a great relationship with our IAF partners," he added.

Colonel Marche highlighted that the exercise would help officials of both countries to develop commandability and synergy for better results and respond together in time to ensure minimum loss of human life while carrying out relief and rescue operations.

"The exercise would help test techniques, endurance and patience of both sides during real operations," he added.

During the six-day long exercise, the Indian Air Force would be showcasing its ability in mass casualty evacuation programme. By Shashank Shantanu (ANI)
