IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils tells Collingwood to show up

Submitted by admin on Thu, 09/10/2009 - 00:50

London, Sep.9 (ANI): England one-day captain Paul Collingwood has been told by the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils to show up for next month's Champions League.

Collingwood is frustrated at having to join up with Delhi Daredevils for the event in India that is contested by Twenty20 winners from around the world.

The smallprint of his contract says that he had to play in the Champions League if Delhi qualified.

But last night Collingwood's representatives were still hoping they could release him - after a year, which has already seen the all-rounder selected for 14 Tests, 16 one-day internationals and nine T20 clashes.

The Sun quoted a source, as saying: "Paul is very tired, he has had a long, hard year.

"Frankly, he looks knackered and we're still hoping Delhi will relent. The money he could win is not an issue for him. It would be counter productive for them to have a player who is so obviously in need of a rest." (ANI)
