Kashmiri women take to self-defence training

Jhangar, Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), Aug 13 (ANI): The Indian Army is training women in the border villages of Jammu and Kashmir in the use of firearms for self-defence.
The Army has so far trained 35 women from five villages at a special camp.
“We have gained a lot of self-confidence after undergoing this training. We had no idea about how to handle these weapons before. We can now hope to defend ourselves against attacks,” said Sunita Sood, a trainee.
The trainees said they were fully supported by their parents, since this meant they would be able to defend themselves and their family in a crisis.
The army’s objective, besides training these women in self-defence, is also to use their help in countering women terrorists.
“There are many situations where we need the help of women. Like if reports come that some women are bringing weapons from across the border, they can help us. Also August 15 is at hand, so we will need the help of women for frisking purposes,” said Major General Rajinder Singh, General Officer Commanding of the Rajouri Division.
We have some reports that terrorists are now training women as well, so they can help us tackle that problem, Major General Singh added.
Now we can say that women are playing their active role in every sector and their services are being acknowledged at all level. (ANI)

This a very good step taken by Kashmiri women towards self defense. Now a days no one is safe especially women.
So in such a bad atmosphere when there is no one on whom they can relay its best to be competent in defensing themselves.
Such training should be encouraged every where in all state so that many more can gain benefit from this.
