Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan agree to boost cooperation in energy sector
Ashgabat (turkmenistan), Sept.21 (ANI): The Governments of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to take further steps to boost cooperation in the energy sector.
According to officials of both countries, this initiative was agreed to during talks between Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Turkmen counterpart, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
The two leaders, who interacted with each other during President Nazarbayev’s recent two-day visit to Ashgabat, also discussed the possibility of Turkmen gas transportation to foreign markets via Kazakhstan. “Energy cooperation is mutually profitable and is in the best interests of both countries. The transportation of Turkmen gas via Kazakhstan to foreign markets, Kazakh companies’ participation in hydrocarbons exploration and development in Turkmenistan and other aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed”, – says the Kazakh President’s press service.Besides, the parties agreed to hold Turkmen culture days in Kazakhstan as well as organizing a Forum for the two countries’ cultural representatives in 2008. It was felt that the latest agreements have activated a new stage of the bilateral partnership. (ANI)
