Mayalsia cracks down on sibutramine
Malaysia's Health Ministry has revoked the license of a factory in Semenyih for manufacturing a diet product containing sibutramine.
More than 100 enforcement officers were deployed in raids on the factory, as well as distributors and officials of the company that produces NP Trimz, the Malaysia Star said Friday.
The Pharmacy Services Division said sibutramine can increase blood pressure, accelerate heartbeat and is harmful to the liver and heart.
It can result in death in some cases, the newspaper said.
