'Atonement' to hit Chinese theatres

Washington, Jan 18 (ANI): After a lengthy blackout on foreign movies in China, the country's movie-goers will finally be able to catch 'Atonement' on Feb 22.

Weng Li, China Film Group spokesman has confirmed that the censor board has passed 'Atonement,' which is among the first foreign pics to screen in the country, reports Variety.

The World War Two epic, however, will likely have a minor cut to suit all age groups in China.

The introduction of blackout on foreign movies was due to trade tensions between Washington and Beijing.

However, Chinese authorities said that there was no ban on Hollywood films and tactically allowed Will Smith pic 'The Pursuit of Happyness' to open. (ANI)
