Pakistan, India to swap detained fishermen

Islamabad, Aug.3 (ANI): Pakistani and Indian authorities have agreed to release at least 60 fishermen imprisoned in the two countries for poaching in each other's territorial waters, a senior official said Friday.

"The two countries have reached a broad agreement according to which Pakistan will release 48 Indian fishermen and India will release 12 of our citizens," a senior official told foreign news agency.

Pakistan released 50 Indian fishermen last month, a day after India released 43 Pakistanis.

"The release of the two countries' fishermen is a gesture of goodwill," said the official, adding they would be released on August 12 and exchanged the following day at the Wagah border crossing. (ANI)
